How Creatine Today estimates saturation

Creatine Today’s saturation percentage is a simplified progress estimate based on logged days. It is not a measurement of the creatine in your muscles.
What goes into the calculation?
The calculation uses the tracking start date and unique dates marked as taken for the primary tracked supplement. A skipped entry is not counted. Multiple entries on the same date count as one taken day. For creatine, the default model uses a 28-day accumulation window and a 42-day return-to-baseline window.
The daily rule
Starting at zero modeled progress, each logged day adds 100 ÷ 28 ≈ 3.57 percentage points. Each completed missed day subtracts 100 ÷ 42 ≈ 2.38 percentage points. The running value is clamped between 0 and 100, and the displayed percentage is rounded to the nearest whole number.
The current unlogged day holds yesterday’s value. You still have time to log it, so the model does not subtract anything until that day is complete.
A worked example

The days-to-full estimate divides the remaining modeled progress by the daily gain and rounds up. It assumes every future day is logged. In the last row, that gives 21 further taken days.
Why those time windows?
Research describes a gradual increase in muscle creatine with a maintenance-style intake over about four weeks, and a return toward baseline over roughly four to six weeks after stopping. The app uses 28 and 42 days as simplifying constants. The ISSN position stand and Hultman et al.’s loading study provide context for those timescales. They do not validate the app’s linear percentage formula in individuals.
What the estimate cannot tell you
- It does not measure your starting stores. People already have creatine in their muscles before taking a supplement.
- Food intake, muscle mass, absorption, and individual responses are not measured.
- The percentage advances by logged day, not by the grams taken. A higher logged dose does not accelerate this model, even though loading can accelerate biological accumulation.
- Body weight can affect other displayed calculations without changing this percentage rule.
- An unlogged dose can make the estimate differ from your actual routine.
- 100% is the model’s upper limit, not proof of a physiological state, strength gain, or health outcome.
